Summer Fun

We have been very busy this summer. We went up north to celebrate Mom and Dad's 3rd Anniversary (3 years of marriage and 2 kids - not bad), Mom's birthday (won't tell how many years that is), and Father's Day. We had a great time playing at the beach with everyone and spending the evening with Grandma and Grandpa while Mom and Dad went to a yummy dinner and a movie.

My sister and I are still great sleepers which is great for Mom since she is back at work! Maddi spends her days with Dad while I'm at school and then we do something fun in the evening.

Tonight we went to a pool party at my friend Levity's house and I had a great time playing in her play house, climbing in and out of her pool, and going down the slide.

Next week we leave for North Carolina where I will get to see my cousin Mya again and the rest of her family!!

May Fun

May was a fun month with the weather getting warmer and lots to do outside!

We celebrated Mother's Day with brunch for the ladies and a ball game in Toledo with the kids. We wished Mya a Happy 1st Birthday on May 27 and will get to give her a big hug in July - can't wait!!!

We went to the Detroit Zoo with our friend Levity, Daddy's mini-Triathlon at the end of the month, and the Peony Garden with the Kochs and Barnetts. Everything was a lot of fun and mom had fun taking pictures of her favorite people.

Mason loves to dance to the Wiggles and shakes his booty - it's pretty cute (thanks for the recommendation Ryan!). He also points to Grandma and Grandpa's pictures in his room every morning. Maddi has started to smile more and is doing great putting herself to sleep in her crib without fussing - she's a dream baby!!! Every day gets more fun with these two munchkins.

Mom goes back to work on June 17 and Daddy will get to be home with the kiddos (well, Maddi anyway, Mason will still go to school with his buddies!)

Here are some pics from this month:

Our First Month Home

Well a month passes very quickly with a toddler and a baby. Maddi had her first bath and her first trip to the Toledo Zoo with her big brother! We have been enjoying the nice weather and play outside a lot.

Mason is still sleeping very well and doesn't wake up at night when Maddi cries. Maddi, however, only sleeps for about 3-4 hours at a time!! It's nice that Mommy is home with Maddi all day while Mason plays with his friends at school.

Easter 2009

Our first holiday with two kids was Easter 2009. We were off to a rough start Easter morning when Mason cried throughout almost his whole basket hunt. Mom had hid eggs with clues to find his and Maddi's baskets. Daddy led Mason and Maddi around to each clue and when Mason got to his basket he sat on the floor and cried. After breakfast he felt better and pulled everything out of his basket!

We went to dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's house and saw Aunt Lee, Gordie, Aunt Gretchen, Uncle Gary, and cousin Connor. Mason had a great time playing ball with Connor and doing his egg hunt outside in Grandma's front yard. These eggs were filled with Teddy Grahams and toy trains!!

Maddi is HERE

We have been very busy and are late announcing the arrival of:

Madeline Ann Jones
Born April 2, 2009
10:45am via c-section
8 lbs. 19.5 in.

Here is a slide show of Maddi's first days. We will have a couple more posts with pictures from our first month at home with two little ones. Mason has adjusted very well and LOVES his little sister. He calls her "naanaa" and loves to give her pats and kisses. In fact, Maddi has actually helped with Mason's behavior! When he wants to run off we ask him where Maddi is and he comes back :-)

Playing outside is more fun when I can walk

I am finally walking 95% of the time :-))) Hooray!!! I am even bending my knees when I walk and not looking so Frankenstein-ish. I am so independent now that I don't like to hold hands.

A couple weekends ago we went to Tyler's 4th birthday party and Tyler shared his new band set with me. He played the drums while I played the cymbals - it was a lot of fun :-)

I had my 15 month well-visit last Friday and got 3 shots - I didn't like that until Mom gave me some grapes to eat and I cheered right up. I am back to the top of the charts for weight and height measuring 28.5 pounds (but, I had just eaten lunch) and 34.5 inches. Mom and Dad are really happy I am growing so well.

I also love to play outside now that the warm weather has arrived, I am definitely an outdoor boy - Dad says I get that from him. Mom and Dad are having so much fun with me lately and can't wait to spend more time outside.

No updates on Lil Sis - she's baking fine and Mom has an appointment tomorrow to make sure everything is going okay :-) She's hoping they'll schedule a c-section but we'll see.

Here are some fun pictures from the park and of Dad and me playing rugby already.

Eating with a fork and WALKING

I did it :-)))) I ate with a fork all by myself and walked for Mom and Dad - all by myself - I'm very sturdy and Mom and Dad are really proud of me, I'm pretty happy myself! I think Mom and Dad are relieved that I'm walking before little sis comes...they were getting nervous.

Getting out of the House

It finally warmed up a little and we were able to take a walk outside. Mom practiced with the new camera and thought it went pretty well.

I like playing hats with Dad using Mom's mixing bowls and we also got out to the Hands On Museum in Ann Arbor - it was a lot of fun and there was a lot of stuff for me to do. Dad even took over the camera for a while and got a picture of Mom and Me.

I took a couple steps between Mom and Dad...once...and haven't again since.

Check out our new pictures!

6 more weeks of Winter?

We think the groundhog saw his shadow (when doesn't he) and we have 6 more weeks of winter. At school I made a Groundhog hat and was wearing it when Mommy came home, but took it off as soon as I saw the camera come out - maybe I'll wear it later.

This weekend we bought a new camera for Mommy and she has been taking lots of pictures of me, deleting a lot of them, but keeping some of them. Uncle Chad is going to help her learn about aperture setting and Depth of Field (she likes saying that) so she can make me pop out and look even better :-) Mom says that Dad has to learn to take these pictures too so that she can be in some of them.

I'm standing a lot on my own, but haven't taken the first official steps yet. Mom and Dad are hoping any day now. We finally got outside for a walk on Sunday with the dogs and it felt really good to be in the sun, mom even let me go without mittens for a few minutes. Yesterday I ate lunch at school with the big kids, I really liked it, mom was a little sad at first to hear I was with the big kids, but then she was happy I was such a big boy. I like to listen to music while I eat and dance in my seat - Dad says I get that from him.

Happy New Year!

It's been a while since Christmas, but we forgot our camera at Aunt Lee's house, so we finally got it back to download pictures.

Mason had a fantastic Christmas and this year was a little more fun because he could actually open his presents himself - well, he actually had some help and seemed to be pretty interested in the boxes. Mason got lots of new toys, clothes, and books. Thank you everyone for all of your gifts!! One of his favorite gifts was from Grandma and Grandpa - it's a toy that has a hammer and he can put the ball in place and hammer it through all by himself - check out the video!

Mason also went sledding for the first time up north after Christmas and again this past weekend at Aunt Gretchen and Uncle Gary's wedding!!! We're so excited for Aunt Gretchen and Uncle Gary. Mason was a little worn out and fell asleep in his sled.

Mason is now 13 months old and has recently learned the sign for "more" and uses it a lot. Mom and Dad just have to learn some more signs so we can teach Mason. He is using his walking toy and getting around quite a bit - we still have to download the videos. No signs of walking on his own, but we hope he will be soon! Everything with the new baby is going well and we can feel her kick a lot.
